Thank you for registering with the PCYC Learn to Sail program. We look forward to having you join us this summer! DISCLAIMER PCYC is not responsible for any loss of property, damage or injuries to persons, including participants while on the premises. Registrations will be waitlisted for any session which becomes filled; space is not guaranteed. PCYC reserves the right to changes sessions at anytime during the summer. PCYC is not required to make up any lost time or days or compensate customers due to weather related closures. MISSED CLASSES Participants are to attend all classes as scheduled, in which they are registered. In the event the participant is unable to attend, make-up classes, refunds or credits for missed classes will not be provided. COURSE WITHDRAWAL OR CANCELLATONS All withdrawals or cancellations must be done in writing to learntosail@pcyc.net. Phone or personal withdrawals or cancellations will not be accepted. Course cancellations are subject to the following criteria: 1) Course Cancellation: A full refund will be issued to a registrant in a course where, due to low enrollment, the entire course is cancelled. Prior to the issuing of a refund, the registrant will be offered the opportunity to register in a like or similar course, should space be available. 2) If cancellation is received 7 days prior to the start of any course, a refund will be issued less an administration fee of $ 100. 3) If cancellation is received no later than the first day of the course, a refund will be issued less an administration fee of 50% of the course fee. 4) In the event that a participant transfers to another available course prior to the start of the course, only the fee difference between the courses shall be charged. 5) In the event of injury, a pro-rated refund amount will be calculated, and the participant will be offered the choice between having the pro-rated refund applied towards re-registering for the course at a future time or applied toward another course at PCYC in the future. 6) Should space be available in a program, students may be added to a course at a pro-rated fee based on the number of days participating. An administration fee may apply. 7) Participants asked to leave courses due to safety or disciplinary concerns shall not receive a refund of any funds paid to participate in the course. 8) Other than the above, refunds will not be issued to participants after they have begun a course, where the course has not been cancelled for some reason by PCYC.

Adult Basic Cruising

Through this course you will gain the knowledge, seamanship and boat-handling skills required for sailboat cruising. Maximum of 4 students per instructor. This 24 hour course is taught by Sail Canada certified cruising instructors who will provide a safe and stimulating experience. Objective: Upon the successful completion of this course you will be able to enjoy a day sail, safely and efficiently in moderate wind and sea conditions. This course teaches the fundamental skills and theory required to meet the Sail Canada Basic Cruising Standard. Monday & Wednesday 6-9 pm - 4 Consecutive Weeks or Saturday & Sunday 2 Consecutive Weekends 9am-4pm

Adult Dinghy CANSail 1/2

Dinghy sailing is a fantastic way to learn to sail. Small and responsive, these boats are fast, exciting and a great work-out. With an experienced Sail Canada instructor as your coach, you will develop the fundamental concepts of: balance, propulsion & direction as well as the knowledge required to safely sail a dinghy in moderate wind and sea conditions. Adult Start Keelboat Sailing

The ideal course for the first time sailor. Learn the basics of crewing in this 18 hour introductory program on a sloop rigged keelboat, 6 to 12 metres with an outboard motor in 5 - 20 knots of wind. You will receive instruction in sailing terms and definitions, marine weather, knots and the duties of skipper and crew. During the course you will be learning how to safely depart for a day, handling the boat under both sail and power, including emergency situations. Tuesday & Thursday 6-9 pm, 3 Consecutive Weeks

B) After Hours Care

Available for sailors who need to be dropped off or picked up outside of our regular hours. Extended hours in the morning will begin at 7:30 AM and in the afternoon be offered from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.

C) Wet Feet (ages 5-7)

1 Week program. Our emphasis is on teaching children not only to be comfortable in a boat, but to also enjoy the sport of sailing. While much of their day is filled with learning about boats and boat handling, there will also be many fun activities to keep youngsters challenged and entertained. Lunch Program & National Lifesaving Society swimming lessons are included in this fun program

D) CANSail 1/2 Opti (age 8-10)

2 Week Program. This is an introductory program with a focus on fun, safety and the fundamental skills of sailing for youth aged 8+. Sailors will be learning in our Pram dinghies, which are specifically designed for young sailors who are new to the sport. Time will be spent in our onsite pool addressing water safety to insure participants are comfortable on and about the lake. Lunch Program included.

F) CANSail 3/4

4 Week Program. CANSail 3 & 4 progressively builds and develops the skills in CANSail 1 & 2, with a focus on keeping the sailor engaged with appropriate challenges and learning opportunities. CANSail 3&4 includes the opportunity for some local regatta participation. This program is taught using our fleet of 420 dinghies which includes spinnaker and trapeze. G) Learn to Race

This is a 2 week introductory program developed to understand the fundamentals of racing; while still maintaining a focus on fun, safety and basic sailing skills. This course is taught using the PCYC Zim Blue Dragon Prams to prepare keen young sailors for the Optimist Race Team program.

H1) Optimist High Performance Race Team

The Opti High Performance team is our top ranked sailors that will train the full season. The Team will be coached by a top international Optimist coach and will focus on developing skills that will allow them to compete at the top of the fleet. Training will start in May and end October. The Optimist Development Team is for those that are new to Race teams. The Optimist Dev Team allows team members to continue developing their boat handling and tactical skills introduced in LTR while working towards their CANSail 3 & 4 accreditation.
