General Information

This year at the Erieau Yacht Club we are glad to announce our program for the Summer of 2019! With 8 weeks, we can make this summer the best one ever! If you want to learn to sail, swim, or just have fun, then we have options for you from ages 5 to 15 years old. We will also be offering Bronze Star, Medallion, and Cross this year at a date to be determine. Camp starts at 9:00 am and is finished at 3:30 pm, we allow a 15 minute drop off and pickup time.

Any questions can be directed to sailing@erieauyachtclub.com. If the course you desire is full,  please send an email with the course information to sailing@erieauyachtclub.com, and if possible, changes may be made to accommodate you, however there is no guarantee. .

All day Sailing/Swimming Camp

Want to learn how to sail and swim?! Ready for a summer of fun? Then the all day camp program is for you! With themed activities and games, as well as sailing and swimming, this is a great option for kids of all ages! Our instructors are certified for both CANSail sailing levels and Red Cross swimming levels. Guaranteed to be a lot of fun! Bronze Star: excellent preparation for success in Bronze Medallion. Participants develop problem-solving and decision-making skills individually and in partners. Candidates learn CPR and develop the lifesaving skills needed to be their own lifeguard. Includes a timed 400 m swim. An additional $20.00 one time fee is required annually from Ontario Sailing Organization. This fee is for each student permits the certification and reporting provided by CANSail.

CANSail Annual Registration Fee - Required once per year per student.

Bronze Cross

Bronze Cross: designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification. Includes a timed 600 m swim. Bronze Cross is recognized as an assistant lifeguard certificate in Ontario Regulation 565 governing public swimming pools. Prerequisite: Bronze Medallion and Emergency First Aid certifications (need not be current). Evaluation & certification: Current Lifesaving Instructors evaluate most items, but only Bronze Cross Examiners may certify candidates. The Lifesaving Society deems its certifications to be "current" for 24 months from the certification date. Candidate recognition: Bronze Cross medal, Bronze Cross Award crest, certification card.

Bronze Medallion

Bronze Medallion: teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the 4 components of water-rescue education - judgment, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn tows and carries, and defence methods and releases in preparation for challenging rescues of increased risk involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a 500 m timed swim. Bronze Medallion is recognized as the waterfront supervisory certification for Ontario's Recreational Camp Regulation 568. Prerequisite: Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification (need not be current). Evaluation & certification: Current Lifesaving Instructors evaluate most items, but only Bronze Cross Examiners may certify candidates. The Lifesaving Society deems its certifications to be "current" for 24 months from the certification date. Candidate recognition: Bronze Medallion medal, Bronze Medallion Award crest, certification card.
