General Information

Sailing courses are provided by Sail Canada certified instructors. Dress appropriately for the conditions (e.g. long sleeve cotton top, layers, waterproof top if raining). A hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and closed toed shoes (e.g. old runners) should be worn. Bring lunch and bottled water as req’d. Meet on the dock at the grey-blue Comox Bay Sailing Club shed located opposite the Comox Marina Park boat launch ramp. Membership of the Comox Bay Sailing Club is not required for registration in these courses. There is no refund or credit due to course or program cancellation caused by weather. A pro-rated credit will be applied to the registrant's account if a course or program is cancelled by the CBSC after the initial session has commenced. Refund(s) will be paid in full if a course or program is cancelled due to less than minimum enrollment. There is no refund for course or program cancellation made by a registrant less than seven calendar days before the scheduled start date. Course or program cancellation made by a registrant seven or more calendar days before course or program start is subject to a $50.00 (fifty dollars CAD) cancellation fee. In process course or program cancellation by a registrant for medical reason is only accepted when accompanied by a relevant doctor's note and shall be refunded on a pro-rated basis, less the cancellation fee

1) Opti Wet Feet Age 5 - 8

Just for little sailors! This course aims to help young children feel comfortable around, near, on and in the water. Sail in an Optimist dinghy, a small sailboat specially designed for young sailors. Skills are taught using fun games and activities both on and off the water. An adult must sign the Terms of Service.

Friday 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. 4 sessions

Jun 01 to Jun 22, 2018

3) Opti Intermediate Age 8 - 13

For sailors with some previous experience. Now sailing by themselves and refining their skills in the Optimist dinghy with a focus on proficiency in tacking, jibing, upwind and downwind sailing. Sailors work toward their CANSail 1 and 2 Levels.An adult must sign the Terms of Service.

Thursdays 4:00 - 6:30 pm 8 sessions.

4) Opti Advanced Age 9 - 13

For sailors who are proficient in their skills and confident in the boat. This course focuses on beginner racing skills such as mark rounding, accelerating off a start line, and sailing independently around a racecourse. Follows the CANSail 3 curriculum. An adult must sign the Terms of Service.

6) Learn to Sail C420 Beginner, Adult

New sailors will be introduced to basic sailing skills in the two person C420 dinghy and follow the CANSail 1 and 2 curriculum.
